Over 5 Million People Watched This Woman’s Date “Block” Her After Just 22 Minutes Of Not Replying

In recent years, dating apps have become the go-to for many people looking for love or companionship. The convenience of swiping through profiles from the comfort of your own home and the sheer number of options available can make it seem like finding a partner has never been easier.

However, as anyone who has spent time on these apps can tell you, the reality can be quite different. Navigating the world of online dating can be a frustrating and often disheartening experience, with ghosting, catfishing, and endless small talk among the many challenges that users face.

Jenny Nguyen-Don, a 21-year-old dater on the prowl in London, knows a thing or two about online dating and the perils that come with it. In a Tiktok she shared recently, she came close to not going on a date at all when the guy blocked her number because he thought she was “pranking” him.

In the video, Jenny explains the details of the (almost not) date: “I had a date tonight, and the plan was to meet at Leicester Square at 6:15 [p.m.] … So I messaged the guy at 5:30 being like, ‘Leaving now, I should be there on time.'”

“I arrive at Leicester Square at 6:17, so I am two minutes late. I pull out my phone, I’m gonna message the guy, and all my notifications pop up … and apparently, the dude messaged me like twice while I was on the tube. I didn’t receive them.”

The texts from Jenny’s date when from positive to bizarrely negative in less than half an hour. He finally sent her a text saying, “You pranking me, Jenny?” When Jenny finally saw this and tried to message him back, she had been blocked.

THEN she tried him on the dating app the originally met on. After quickly explaining the VERY EXPLAINABLE situation, she suddenly found herself unblocked on the text. WEIRD.

In the end, Jenny and her date did actually meet up in person. And to her credit, she did call him out on blocking her. She said his response was this, “He’s just like, ‘Oh, no, um, my WhatsApp is really glitchy, all my friends say that. Sometimes they say that they can’t see my photo for some reason.”

In closing, Jenny says, “After that, I was just like, what a loser.” But the real icing on the cake was this add on:

Not that that’s old, but c’mon, bro. 36 is way too old to be acting like this.

Jenny’s video went viral with over 5 million views, so naturally the disbelievers came out of the woodwork. But Jenny had receipts.

Jenny went into more details about the date and the whole experience in a followup Tiktok.

Jenny’s response, “It’s made me chuckle. The vast majority of the comments are in support of me, letting me know I dodged a bullet, or other women sharing similar bad date stories. There’s a sprinkle of negative comments who try to make excuses for my date, saying he could’ve been on the tube as well and didn’t receive reception, or that he probably was ghosted in the past, which is why he reacted the way he did. I mean, fair enough. There’s a very clear divide between how the women feel and how the men feel in the comments.”

Like everything else, Jenny’s story eventually made it over to Twitter.

What’s your take on all of this? Have you had weird text interactions with dating app matches that made you want to call off a date? I mean, sometimes the vibe is just off, and that’s ok.
