The Best Games of All Time

Trying to determine the best game of all time is like trying to work out which grain of sand is bigger than the rest. There will always be controversy and differing opinions. People fall in love with games for all kinds of reasons. Maybe the story really spoke to them or they really related to a specific character or perhaps the gameplay was exactly to their liking. However, I have my own list (as I’m sure you all do) of my favorite games of all time and here they are.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
If you have in anyway followed the Uncharted series so far then Uncharted 4 was the amazing payoff we have all been waiting for. It concludes the Nathan Drake story in the most satisfying way possible – an awesome action adventure game with a gripping plot and wonderful characters. The combat has never been better and the game puts a whole new emphasis on showcasing the beautiful environments. Uncharted 4 is clearly a game with a vision and direction, one that it pulls off with expert precision.

Persona 4
Persona 4 originally came on the PlayStation 2 but has since had a Golden version released for the Vita. The game itself takes place in two parts. The first part is stepping into the shoes of a teenage boy trying to make friends, get good grades, have a part time job and generally adapt to moving to a new school and town. The second part is all about exploring dungeons and trying to uncover a murder mystery. The who parts are linked because as you become closer to your friends, then your monsters which use you use for dungeon crawling also become stronger. Persona 4 is so different, yet compelling that players can happily put hundreds of hours into either part of this wonderful game.

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Many people will tell you that The Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game. They are, however, often looking through nostalgia tinted glasses. Wind Waker for me is the better games for a few reasons. Firstly, the art design thanks to the cell shading make it one of the most distinct games in the world. Secondly, it was basically one of the very first open world games. Players could spend hours just sailing the seas, looking for treasure, beating up bad guys and just exploring this rich and detailed world. Finally, Wind Waker is that the boss fights are always amazing. This is generally true for all Legend of Zelda boss fights, but Wind Waker just has the best of the lot. That combined with a really special sound design and general world building make it the best Legend of Zelda game to date.

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII is one of those games that really showed what video games could be. It was the first 3D Final Fantasy and told one of the most beautiful and epic tales in gaming history. It also had an incredibly diverse cast of characters and a really interesting world to explore. There is so much to do in Final Fantasy VII from collecting summons, fighting optional high-level bosses, playing through the touchingly dark story and just spending time at the Gold Saucer. The Gold Saucer is the Final Fantasy equivalent of a high-class casino. It lets you spend some of your hard-earned money on a variety of mini games and sideshows to win prizes, more money and just generally have fun. It is so good and so well received that Final Fantasy XV is getting one, too. If you haven’t had your fill of gambling at the Gold Saucer, but can’t wait for it to be released in Final Fantasy XV, then check out Lucky Nugget Casino. They have a great range of games including the popular table game online roulette and they have a special welcome bonus to new players.
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt
When The Witcher 3 came out nobody expected it to so effortlessly take the franchise into the open world genre. But it did. Nobody expected the ambient and organic stories that came up just from exploring to be so compelling. But they were. Nobody could have considered that a small card game played throughout the game (Gwent) would be a smash hit and result in its own spin-off game. But it was and the Gwent game is going to be awesome. The Witcher 3 is the best RPG I have ever played in the most realistic and interestingly dark world. It doesn’t pull any punches, but it never feels gratuitous. The main story is exciting and entertaining throughout and there is plenty of side quests and contracts to keep players interested for hundreds of hours.
