Reddit Refuses To Roast Depressed Teen Who Said He Needs ‘A Reason To End It All’

Reddit can be a pretty gnarly place, and the r/RoastMe sub is particularly ruthless. But a recent post by u/MufasaQuePasa proves that people out there are generally good, even when they have a Reddit mask of anonymity to operate behind.

(TW: suicide and depression.)

“17-year-old Russian with crippling depression,” wrote MufasaQuePasa, on a sub notorious for tearing apart people’s appearances. “Give me a reason to end it all.”

But rather than insulting him, the community rallied around the struggling young teen. Folks encouraged him to seek help and do everything in his power to get better.

Some shared their own personal stories of depression and suicide.

One user even recognized OP from real life.

The post racked up nearly 47,000 upvotes in less than one days’ time, and was eventually reposted on the r/Wholesemememes subreddit, where it went even more viral.

The story garnered 101,000 upvotes in just under 21 hours and over 1,000 people commented words of encouragement and support.

OP has not responded to the outpouring of supportive messages. We hope the anti-roast was successful in at least forcing him to reassess some things in his very young life.
