They say laughter is a universal language. And the same is true of laughing emojis. But how often we use them and which version of the laughter emoji we prefer varies greatly from region to region.
Some parts of the world are partial to the classic crying-with-laughter emoji. Some prefer the crying-with-laughter emoji tilted slightly to the side (which I save only for things that are exceptionally funny). And others pepper in the laughing cat emoji to express their delight for something humorous.
A recent study from Bored Panda maps out which parts of the world use laughing emojis (and written expressions of laughter such as “haha”) the most often, as well as their preferred emoji.
