Kanye West Deleted His Twitter And Instagram And People Are Relieved

That big whooshing sound you heard was the entire internet breathing a sigh of relief after Kanye West deleted his Twitter and Instagram (again). West has come under fire recently, both for his bizarre performance and pro-Trump rant on Saturday Night Live and for tweeting that the 13th amendment (which prohibits slavery) should be repealed. West later clarified that he only thought the amendment should be edited to remove mentions of slavery, but the damage was done.

Twitter reacted to West wiping his social media presence from the internet with a resounding “hallelujah.”

Singer Lana Del Rey recently criticized West, commenting on his Instagram page that Trump’s presidency was “a loss for our country but your support of him is a loss for the culture.” Similarly, actor Chris Evans called out the rapper on Twitter, saying, “There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue.”

Just last night, ‘SNL’s’ Pete Davidson, who’s been very open about his own struggles with mental illness, ripped West for his full-blown MAGA tirade. “Speaking strictly for myself, what Kanye said after we went of the air was one of the worst, most awkward things I’ve ever seen here—and I’ve seen Chevy Chase speak to an intern,” Davidson said.

West was supposed to release a new album entitled ‘Yandhi’ last weekend but is now said to be recording new music in Africa. Whatever the reason for his break from social media (and reality), if there’s one thing we can be certain of it’s that he’ll be back.
