Twitter Can’t Get Over Jason Momoa’s Pink Fendi Scrunchie At The Oscars

The last calendar year in red carpet fashion has seen straight male celebrities challenging gender norms with their outfits and accessories.

Billy Porter’s magnificent Oscars tuxedo-gown is the most memorable recent example, as is Terry Crews’ crocodile-skin harness—an accessory rooted in the gay leather scene that has in recent months grown in popularity among cool hot guy celebrities such as Adam Rippon, Michael B. Jordan, Timothée Chalamet, and Chadwick Boseman.

But the 2019 Academy Awards red carpet had a new contender for barrier-shattering male accessories: Jason Momoa‘s pink velvet Fendi scrunchie.

Momoa coordinated his velvet Fendi tuxedo—designed personally by Karl Lagerfeld—with his wife Lisa Bonet’s gown, and paired it with a matching scrunchie (with its own teeny-tiny Fendi label) around his his wrist.

Twitter was in absolute awe of Momoa’s entire look, with some fans already calling for him to host next year’s Oscars thanks to his velvet scrunchie alone.

In truth, this wasn’t the first time Momoa rocked a pink scrunchie. The actor wore a satin scrunchie around his wrist when he was doing interviews promoting Aquaman last fall, and has been photographed wearing his hair in pigtails held together by two pink scrunchies.
