Tumblr User’s Explanation Of Why People Get Divorced Is Painfully Spot-On

When it comes to love and marriage, many people are always wondering how to make it work. Unfortunately, there’s no universal answer for how to keep a marriage alive and lasting–and many people do end up getting divorced. With divorce rates rising almost annually, it’s a question on the forefront of many people’s minds–why do individuals just fall out of love?
25-year-old writer and Tumblr user Taylor Myers thinks she knows the answer. In the form of a poem, Meyers shared some of her most intimate thoughts on love and relationships on Tumblr and before she knew it, it was shared over 1 million times.

The poem shared on Tumblr hit a sore spot for many users.

A lot of people ask me what my biggest fear is, or what scares me most. And I know they expect an answer like heights, or closed spaces, or people dressed like animals, but how do I tell them that when I was 17 I took a class called Relationships For Life and I learned that most people fall out of love for the same reasons they fell in it. That their lover’s once endearing stubbornness has now become refusal to compromise and their one track mind is now immaturity and their bad habits that you once adored is now money down the drain. Their spontaneity becomes reckless and irresponsible and their feet up on your dash is no longer sexy, just another distraction in your busy life.
Nothing saddens and scares me like the thought that I can become ugly to someone who once thought all the stars were in my eyes.

After she realized her writing had gone viral on the social media website, she came back to give some insight to people who may have come across it on the website.

People had many different reactions to the post–agreeing that any marriage and all love will always be work.
