The Hinterkaifeck murders are my favourite mystery of all time, and will never be truly solved (it was over 100 years ago and evidence was processed differently at the time). It is well known that the murderer stayed in the family house for days after the massacre. It is also noted that the father had complained about noises and doors left open and keys going missing and tracks in the snow on the weeks leading to it.
