Lady Gaga Finally Addressed *That* Oscars Performance With Bradley Cooper

Lady Gaga has seen your tweets and memes about *that* Sunday night Oscars performance of “Shallow,” and she’s got something to say: It’s JUST SHOW BIZ, BABY!

Several days after Gaga took to the Oscars stage with her “A Star Is Born” costar Bradley Cooper, the Best Original Song winner appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and promptly shut down rumors that there was any REAL romance going down between the actors.

Apparently we’re all just projecting our collective desire for a Gaga/Cooper relationship, because when asked about the rumors Gaga rolled her eyes bigly and was basically like, “dude, ever heard of acting?”

“Yes, people saw love, and guess what? That’s what we wanted you to see. This, ‘Shallow,’ is a love song. The movie, A Star Is Born, is a love story. We worked so hard, we worked all week on that performance … It was just great, and from a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time.”

Gaga also pointed out that her connection with Cooper is no different than the one she had with duet partner Tony Bennett over the years—with whom she also never had a romantic relationship.

“Look, I’ve had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world. When you’re singing love songs, that’s what you want people to feel.”

Gaga concluded: “I’m an artist, and guess we did a good job. Fooled ya!”

Meanwhile, Gaga and Cooper’s exes are out here throwing shade, with Gaga’s ex-ex-fiancé Taylor Kinney liking a comment shading the pop star, and Cooper’s ex-wife having to explain that her “ha” comment on an Instagram post asking whether Gaga and Bradley were hooking up was just a joke.

The Oscar-winner also weighed in on social media, in general: “Social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the internet. And what it has done to pop culture is just abysmal.”

Amen, Gaga.
