Getting an ID photo is one of those dreary, exhausting experiences that makes one feel like a character in a Kafka short story, stuck in a neverending loop of tedious and inefficient processes and paperwork.
You have to scrounge up all sorts of documents that prove you live in the state, which inevitably results in a trip to Office Depot because no one has a printer in their home anymore. Then you have to wait for hours at the DMV only to find that the electricity bill you brought as proof of residence is one month too old. So it’s rinse and repeat until finally you’re ready to take the pic. And of course it turns out awful because you’re exhausted and the harsh halogen lighting makes everyone look 15 years older. Not to worry, you’ll only have to see it every single time you open your wallet for the next decade.
These people know the struggle. And some of them decided to lean into the absurdity of the process and troll their ID photos — honestly, we’re surprised some of them got away with their wacky hairdos and facial expressions.
