Britney Spears Checked Herself Into A Mental Health Facility

Britney Spears has been admitted to a mental health facility, reports TMZ.

The pop queen is getting treatment as she struggles with her father’s declining health.

According to TMZ, Jamie Spears is suffering complications following a corrective surgery on his intestines and colon. The publication also reports that Britney checked herself into a facility “about a week ago where she will live for 30 days.”

A source told People that her father’s sickness “has taken a toll” on Britney, adding that  “He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well. They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.”

Britney put her Las Vegas residency on hold indefinitely to spend more time with her dad at the start of the year.

I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand. More information on ticket refunds is available on britneyspears.com. I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.

“Britney was having a hard time dealing with her dad’s health issues. Britney hasn’t been drinking or doing drugs or anything, she just has some very difficult emotional and mental health issues. She’s gone away to try with her issues before they get worse,” a source told Page Six Wednesday.

The pop queen on Wednesday evening posted a picture on Instagram of a quote reading, “Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit” along with the caption: “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.’ :)”

We all need to take time for a little "me time." 🙂

Jamie Spears has been Britney’s conservator since 2008 after the pop star was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Our thoughts are with the Spears family during this difficult time.
