Bony-Eared ‘Assfish’ Goes On Display At The Royal B.C. Museum

If you’ve seen ‘Finding Nemo’ then you know life isn’t easy for fish in the first place, but it’s even more difficult when they human race names you an “Assfish.”

Even though it’s not even close to the top 10 ugliest fish species on the planet, the large head and small-brained Assfish officially went on display in Victoria, B.C. this month.

You can see Assfish for free in the “Finding Fishes” exhibition in the museum’s new Pocket Gallery.
“It is an ugly fish. That’s why I like it,” the museum’s curator Gavin Hanke said. “It’s got a big bulbous head and a tapering body and flabby skin. It almost looks like a glorified tadpole. It felt very gelatinous and soft when we picked it up.
