If you’re a renter and have noticed that your rent keeps increasing while upgrades and your salary are not — you’re not alone. A Dallas-based TikToker created a video showing how the rent is too high and only getting higher.

TikToker @goldenflacko4 says he has been living in the same Dallas, Texas apartment for three years. He paid $1,295 per months during that time. Now, he’s renewed his lease and discovered the rent has increased by over $400.

“Do y’all see that?” he asks in the video. “And it’s only getting worse.”

“Now granted, my lease didn’t go up as much as a lot of people’s lease[s] have gone up, but this is ridiculous.” His new rental price is $1,715.

The Texas State Law Library says that there is “not a statewide law that places limits on how much a landlord can increase the rent when a lease is renewed” — which seems pretty unfair and has probably led to a lot of people having to leave their homes.

Sandy Rollins, executive director of the Texas Tenants’ Union, said as much to WFAA: “The rent is so outrageous right now, and it’s leading to a rise in evictions too. They’re not unrelated.”

“And people who start looking for a new place are running into the same problem.”

In another video, @goldenflacko4 said he’d like to buy a home eventually, but he’s not in the place to do so yet.
