Kanye West Says America Needs To ‘Abolish The 13th Amendment,’ Which Outlaws Slavery

Kanye West is at it with his Twitter fingers again, as the rapper is causing quite the commotion on the social media platform this Sunday afternoon. After his post-SNL rant about Donald Trump and the liberal media, West posted a few more “thoughts” on his Twitter feed that have made a lot of people pretty angry.
The rapper posted yet another photo wearing his “Make America Great Again” hat, saying that it represents “good and America becoming whole again.” He mentioned things Trump stands by, like creating jobs for America and bringing factories and production back to our soil. But, he ended with something that left everyone (myself included) confused and shocked–abolish the 13th amendment.

In case you’re not up on your American History, the 13th amendment is the amendment in the Constitution of the United States that abolished slavery. As quoted in the Constitution:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

West added that the 13th amendment is “slavery in disguise,” saying that we still have slavery…even with the law intact.

Obviously, West must have gotten a beating from someone, because he decided to change his wording.

This comes only months after Kanye West made some tasteless comments in the TMZ studio when he said that “slavery is a choice.” People of color all over the world were not only offended, but outraged to see someone (who had ancestors enslaved) saying that it was their “choice” to be confined to a plantation, whipped, sold, and many killed.

After the controversy spun out of control and many–including his own wife–confronted him and cornered him, West gave a half-ass apology during a press tour, saying he was “sorry if he offended anyone.”

At the end of the day, Kanye West used to be a rapper who was for the people. When he first made it onto the scene, he was adamant about supporting people of color and his home city, Chicago. Whether it’s the death of his mother, his love life, or the media scrutiny he constantly receives–Kanye West is not the Kanye he used to be. And, Twitter is tired of dealing with him.

Excuse me while I go listen to “Through The Wire” on repeat for a while, remembering the good old days.
