‘Doorway Debbie’ Calls Cops On Black Woman For Standing In Doorway

Another day, another white person calling the cops on a black person participating in a laughably innocuous activity.

Last Wednesday, Darsell Obregon ducked into the doorway of an apartment building to take shelter from the rain as she waited for her Uber to arrive. According to a now-viral Facebook post penned by Obregon, a mere three minutes later a young woman burst forth from the apartment, banishing Obregon from the doorway.

The woman, later identified through social media as one Arabella Juniper Torres, dialed law enforcement when Obregon refused to leave. The latter whipped out her phone to take video of the encounter — a move which visibly angered Torres.

Torres proceeded to follow Obregon to her Uber in the rain, yelling at the driver, “If you leave, you will be committing a crime as well!” In one of the videos shared by Obregon and widely spread on Twitter, Torres can be heard giving the 911 dispatcher the license plate number of the Uber.

Naturally, Twitter had a lot of thoughts. Mainly the fact that Torres lacked the decency to even ask Obregon what she was doing under the doorway before she immediately tried to evacuate her from it.

This incident is just the latest in a trend shaming white people for calling the police on POC for no reason at all. Case in point: BBQ Betty, Permit Patty, Pool Patrol Paula, Newport Nancy, Sidewalk Susy, and a myriad of other racists whose names are either unknown or do not lend themselves to alliteration.
