It’s 2019 (!!!) and we’re somehow still arguing about vaccines in this country. WHY? The main argument against vaccines is the belief that they’re tied to autism, but there’s never been any scientific data to back that up. There was one paper in 1998 that did support a connection between the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism, but according to the Washington Post, it was officially retracted from the public record.
But that hasn’t stopped the myths about vaccines from circulating (thanks, internet), and 2018 saw a sudden increase in measles cases as parents, especially in California, decided not to vaccinate their kids.
We rely on herd immunity, which means that everyone that can get vaccinated should, to protect those among us who can’t get vaccinated due to things like autoimmune disorders.
It’s really hard to get through to anti-vaxxers with their selfishness and stubbornly held beliefs. Sometimes all you can do is roast them for their ignorance. Here are 15 examples of that being done beautifully.
