Depression is easy. You don’t have to do anything to be depressed. You can just lay in bed wearing the same sweatpants for a week. In fact, you probably will. Self care, however, is so annoyingly difficult. You have to meditate, and drink green juice, and love yourself, and do hot yoga in a room filled with other people’s farts. Can you guess which way I’m swinging on the depression/self care meter?
It’s okay to oscillate between depression and self care. It means you’re human. It also means you’re not giving up. That’s the most important part. Slipping back into depression after you’d been doing so well taking care of yourself isn’t the end of the world. You got out once, and you’ll get out again. Okay? Okay. Now that we’ve established we’re all okay and doing our best, let’s enjoy this list of tweets we can all relate to on some level.
