McDonald’s Happy Meal toys were a cherished part of my childhood.
Sure those Mickey D’s fries are unmatched, but the toys were the main reason I begged my Mom to pull over at the golden arches after baseball practice. I needed to get the seagreen Bionicle so I could complete my collection and combine all of them to create the Super Mega Bionicle.
But oh, how things have changed.
Happy Meal toys have become little more than an afterthought. Stickers. Stamps. QR codes for some reason. It’s a crying shame, and Millennial parents feel bad for their Gen Alpha kids, who will never know the joy of getting an actual Beanie Baby with their burger.
Twitter user Robert Komaniecki recently posted his dismay over the state of Happy Meal toys, and nostalgic Millennials sounded off in the replies with fond memories of a bygone era.
